Severe Weather-Setting Out Garbage and Recycling
Waste Connections works to keep disruptions to garbage and recycling collections at a minimum. If unsafe weather conditions occur or persist, the City, County and Waste Connections will determine if a cancellation is necessary.
Safety is First Priority
For example, the heavy garbage and recycling trucks must travel through neighborhoods and residential areas, which are seldom plowed or deiced during severe winter weather. The potential for slipping or loss of traction by these big vehicles or other vehicles must be considered. In all cases, the safety of our drivers and of our citizens is our first priority.
One-Day Cancellation
If your garbage and recycling collection is cancelled due to inclement weather, collection will take place the next day. For example, if your collection is on Wednesday, your pickup will be moved to Thursday. Thursday collection moved to Friday and Friday collection will move to Saturday, weather permitting.
More Than One Day Cancellation
If more than one day of garbage service is cancelled in a week, customers of the days cancelled should take their waste off the curb and set out double the amount of waste on the following week on your regularly scheduled collection day at no additional charge.
Holiday Schedules
Holiday schedules may also impact changes in collection dates caused by inclement weather. For cancellation updates and related follow-up collection information, check our Website often and listen to your local radio and news stations.
